Activities at the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic

Deck Theresa E. ConnorWherever you go at the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic, the sounds of laughter and voices fill the air. Try your hand and experience the thrill of a successful model schooner launch! Living lobsters are the basis of our "Lobster Talk", with a "hands-on" approach. Throughout the day you can learn to tie knots and splices, knit fishermen's mittens, mend a fishing net and talk about dory fishing with retired fishermen. The cod, once the King of the North Atlantic, is also the focus of an informative talk. Join Museum staff as they explore the history of the original Bluenose, as well as a study of scallops and the scallop fishery - and a host of other subjects. For School Programs, go HERE.
